Collection: Gore Angels

Unbeknownst to “learned” scientists and so-called academics of the world, but well known to scholars and acolytes of the more mystical matters, there is a finite supply of the refined materials that make up the human body.  The base materials that constitute organics such as eyes, blood, teeth, etc., are not inexhaustible resources in the universe. To combat this limit, the servants of the ethereal plane work tirelessly to recycle the used viscera of the humans who have completed their mortal journey and therefore have no further use for such organic, mundane things.  

At the dawn of human creation, the celestial council designated a selection of Angels to shepherd this precious resource and safeguard the very existence of all mortals.  And so the Divine Order of the Angels of the Matter of Humankind was formed and given their sacred charge, to harvest the organic materials of the deceased and prepare them for the next generation.  Derisively referred to as Gore Angels, by their fellow servants, who look down upon this sacred mission as beneath their elevated station, the Divine Order of the Angels of the Matter of Humankind have appropriated the derogatory term, and taken it as their preferred title.

Greatly misunderstood and often feared by the very humans they serve due to their fearsome visage and macabre mission, the Gore Angels perform their duties faithfully.  Each angel has dominion over a single class, be it teeth, eyes, blood, etc, and have adopted the title of their domain.  Each angel commands a host of diminutive fairies that assist it in collecting the earthly remains and preparing them for processing.  The Angel of the Eyes, for example, leads its vast hosts of winged servants to pluck out the eyes of all humans who have shuffled off this mortal coil and then prepare this precious resource for future generations.

The fairies are mischievous creatures that must be constantly monitored less their nature leads them to ruin.  Left unchecked, the fairies will revert to their fey state, happily napping or worse consuming the very resources they were entrusted to gather. Each Gore Angel is ever vigilant in their commission and will reign in any fairies that stray from their crucial mission. The very future existence of all humanity depends upon their ceaseless toil!
