Earlier this year, I started designing new sweaters and cardigans for Milky Tomato, and somewhere along the way I realized how much I absolutely LOVE designing apparel. It opened up this whole new creative world for me, and pretty quickly I started thinking about what else I could make. And of course, T-shirts were at the top of my list! I’ve made Milky Tomato shirts in the past, but this time I wanted to do something a little different. Instead of just taking my artwork and putting it on a shirt, I wanted to actually design the shirts themselves. I started playing around with different collar and cuff colors, artwork that wraps around the whole shirt, ways to make each shirt feel like its own complete Milky Tomato design. Once I started, I kind of couldn’t stop. I ended up designing seven completely new shirts and decided FanX in Salt Lake City would be the perfect place to debut them for the first time. I was definitely a little nervous to see what everyone would think, but the response at FanX was AMAZING! Seeing people so excited about all the new designs, and many even wearing the shirts to the con the next day, made me so happy! After spending so much time designing them, seeing the great response to them was such a great feeling. And now I’m finally bringing them online! All seven of my new T-shirt designs will be available on the Milky Tomato website starting October 10th. I’m so excited for everyone who couldn’t make it to FanX to finally get a chance to see them, and I really hope you love them as much as I loved creating them!
